Sponsor a Child

Stand with Us

Every child at Sonshine has potential waiting to be unlocked. For just $USD 325 a year, you can be the one to make it possible.

The Sponsorship Program

One gift. One child.
One whole year.

For many families in Nakaseke and the surrounding communities, the cost of quality education, even at our subsidised rates, remains out of reach. Our sponsor-a-child program bridges that gap, ensuring that financial hardship never prevents a bright, deserving student from receiving the education they need to thrive.

We personally match each sponsor with a student in greatest need, ideally beginning at nursery level so you can walk alongside your child through their entire journey at Sonshine. Every sponsor receives regular progress reports, and many develop meaningful, lasting relationships with their students.

Nabale Charlotte

Middle Class · Day Scholar

Charlotte is a joyful presence in every classroom she enters. While reading doesn’t come easily to her, her determination is remarkable; she practices reading aloud to her younger siblings every evening. Her teacher reports that Charlotte has made tremendous progress this year, growing in confidence and skill.

Charlotte’s father passed away two years ago, leaving her mother to support four children alone through subsistence farming. Charlotte’s mother desperately wants to keep her daughter in school, knowing that education is the pathway to a different future. With sponsorship, Charlotte can continue her education journey without the constant fear of being sent home for unpaid fees.

Ampumuliza Joash

Primary 6 · Day Scholar

Joash is in his final years of primary school, standing at a crucial crossroads. A dedicated student with a particular gift for science, he dreams of becoming a doctor to serve his community. But without sponsorship, his journey may end here. Secondary school fees are beyond his family’s means.

As the eldest of four children, Joash understands responsibility. He arrives early to help younger students, stays late to study, and never wastes the opportunity he’s been given. His teachers describe him as determined, respectful, and hungry to learn. Joash is close to completing primary school and moving toward his dream.

Nampijja Tracy

Primary 4 · Day Scholar

Tracy is a natural artist whose drawings brighten the classroom walls. Creative, curious, and compassionate, she dreams of becoming an architect who designs beautiful schools like Sonshine. But Tracy’s artistic gifts extend beyond paper. She’s also a peacemaker who helps resolve conflicts among classmates and includes students who feel left out.

Her grandmother, who raised Tracy after her parents separated, is elderly and struggles to afford school fees on her small pension. With a sponsor behind her, Tracy can focus on what she does best: creating, learning, and dreaming big.

Muhoza Yongsok & Mazimpaka Jkwon

Primary 2 & Primary 3 · Boarding

When Yongsok and Jkwon arrived at Sonshine from Congo, they spoke little English and carried the weight of displacement that no child should bear. Today, these inseparable twin brothers are thriving students who embody the transformative power of education.

Yongsok has discovered a gift for mathematics and dreams of becoming an engineer. Jkwon loves reading time and hopes to be a teacher, perhaps inspired by the patient educators who welcomed him when he needed it most. Both boys are learning English rapidly and helping other refugee children adjust to their new school.

Their mother fled conflict to give her children a chance at peace and opportunity. For Yongsok and Jkwon, sponsorship means more than school fees. It means the stability and hope that every child deserves, regardless of where they were born.
